Sony Ericsson’s first Android Walkman phone, the W8, is now available here in the Philippines and seems has already headed its way to Globe Telecom.
In fact, the telco is offering this Android phone for free when you subscribe to its My Super Surf Plan 999 just until September 20, 2011. Not only that. Once you subscribe online, you’ll get an extra Sony Ericsson Media Speaker Stand MS430 and 3 pre-embedded GLEE songs as freebies.
Sony Ericsson W8, announced back in April, sports a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a 3.2MP camera. This phone has 168MB of RAM and is powered by a single-core processor clocking at 600MHz. The only drawback here though is it still running Android 2.1 (Éclair) which is quite unfortunate giving the fact that most of the entry level handsets today carry Android 2.2 (Froyo) at least. Well, that may not be the selling point; but rather than the real Walkman experience yet with a little taste of Android flavor.
If you’re interested of grabbing one from Globe, you may hit this link.
[Thanks, Johnn!]
