Sony Ericsson Intros Live With Walkman Android Smartphone

Following the W8, Sony Ericsson unveils today another Android smartphone featuring the company’s Walkman trade-name.

Called Live with Walkman, this smartphone carries Gingerbread and is claimed to deliver unique social music experience to Android users. You ask, really? Well, this phone got a dedicated Walkman hardware button allowing instant access to the music player; and with deep Facebook integration, media sharing and discovering new contents on this phone becomes easier. Live with Walkman is also beefed up with Sony’s xLOUD technology which enhances audio output of built-in speakers at high levels, and Sony allows consumers to access millions of songs through its Qriocity service.

Live with Walkman flaunts a 3.2-inch capacitive multi-touch screen and is powered by 1GHz processor. There’s a 5MP auto-focus shooter with 8x digital zooming and can capture 720p HD video recording, plus a front-facing VGA camera for video calling. Also under its hood is 320MB RAM microSD storage of up to 32GB, Wi-Fi with DLNA and hotspot, USB 2.0, 3G support, Bluetooth, GPS (aGPS), and 1200mAh battery.

Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will be available both in Black or White in selected markets globally, including the Philippines, from Q4 2011. Price is still yet to be known. Check out more info through the official press release after the break.

Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman Android Phone Goes to Globe Telecom

Sony Ericsson’s first Android Walkman phone, the W8, is now available here in the Philippines and seems has already headed its way to Globe Telecom.

In fact, the telco is offering this Android phone for free when you subscribe to its My Super Surf Plan 999 just until September 20, 2011. Not only that. Once you subscribe online, you’ll get an extra Sony Ericsson Media Speaker Stand MS430 and 3 pre-embedded GLEE songs as freebies.

Sony Ericsson W8, announced back in April, sports a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a 3.2MP camera. This phone has 168MB of RAM and is powered by a single-core processor clocking at 600MHz. The only drawback here though is it still running Android 2.1 (Éclair) which is quite unfortunate giving the fact that most of the entry level handsets today carry Android 2.2 (Froyo) at least. Well, that may not be the selling point; but rather than the real Walkman experience yet with a little taste of Android flavor.

If you’re interested of grabbing one from Globe, you may hit this link.

[Thanks, Johnn!]

Xperia Ray, Xperia Active, and SE Txt – New Stylish Phones to Expect from Sony Ericsson

Early this year, Sony unveiled at least 4 smartphones in the Xperia lineup which include the Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia Pro, and Xperia Play.

Except for Xperia Pro, the other three handsets have already been released and in fact now available here in the Philippines.

But Sony Ericsson has something more for this year. Just in the recent CommunicAsia event in Singapore, the joint-venture firm unveiled additional 3 new phones coming in stores by Q3. Two of which will complement the existing Xperia smartphone lineup, the Xperia Ray and Xperia Active, and one feature phone called Sony Ericsson txt donning a full QWERTY keyboard.

SE Xperia Ray
The SE Xperia Ray has the most fabulous package among the three. It’s a sleek touchscreen phone with aluminum body at 9.4mm thin, 3.3-inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, 8.1MP rear camera with Exmor R sensor, 1GHz processor, 1500 mAh battery, and running Android Gingerbread OS.

SE Xperia Active
The SE Xperia Active on the other hand is a rugged sports-centric touchscreen phone. It also runs Android Gingerbread, 1GHz processor, a smaller 3-inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, 5MP rear camera capable of HD video recording, and 1200 mAh battery. Xperia Active is said to be dust proof, water resistant, and has that unique “Wet-Finger Tracking” feature which is probably good for people like me with slippery fingertips.

Sony Ericsson txt
The Sony Ericsson Txt doesn’t have that smartphone prowess, yet it has a decent build inside and out in its category. It’s a feature phone with full QWERTY keyboard, 2.6-inch screen, 3.2MP camera capable of video recording, Wi-Fi connectivity, and designed with a “Friends” application for Facebook and Twitter interaction.

The Xperia Ray, Xperia Active, and SE Txt are expected for release come Q3 this year. Hit feature videos after the break...

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro, and Play Unveiled

Following the announcement of Xperia Arc in the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Sony Ericsson unveiled earlier today at the on-going MWC 2011 new additions to its smartphone line-up for this year namely: Xperia Neo, Xperia Pro, and Xperia Play.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo
Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and Xperia Pro are identical mid-range devices as far as specs are concerned, except for the form-factor of the latter which features an added full-QWERTY sliding keyboard instead of just having Multi-Touch. Both are using Sony’s Bravia graphics engine powering 854 x 480 display resolution on 3.7-inch screen.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro
As expected, usual specs on Gingerbread devices are on board including the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, 320 MB internal storage, MicroSD support of up to 32GB (8GB microSD included), 8 MP front-facing camera with Auto-Focus and LED Flash capable of recording 720p HD videos at 30 frames-per-second, up-front is the 2 MP camera for video conferencing, and of course – wireless connectivity options like Wi-Fi, enhanced 3G support both for down and up-links (HSDPA/HSUPA), Bluetooth 2.1, and an Assisted GPS support.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on the other hand is something quite different, not unless you’re a fan of PSP’s. First leaked as the PlayStation Phone, it finally got its official name as the Xperia Play. Basically, gaming buttons like that of PSP are evident. Like its companions, it’s powered by the same low-power 1 GHz Snapdragon application processor (Scorpion) and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It also sports the same resolution of 854 x 480 on its 4-inch display. Though only has a 5 MP rear camera, it’s generous to offer 512 MB of internal storage and 8GB microSD plus an expandable option of up to 32GB.

These handsets are coming to selected markets starting next month, and I guess you can still wait that long. Do you?

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is purportedly packed with a slim contoured body measuring 125 x 63 x 9 mm, with 8.7 mm at its thinnest point.
