Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Packs 1.2GHz CPU, PLS Display, and Honeycomb

Samsung on Friday unveiled a new addition to its tablet lineup, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, which is a refresh to the very first Samsung slate.

“Samsung pioneered the seven-inch tablet market with the launch of the GALAXY Tab, marking an innovation milestone in the mobile industry. Building on the success of the GALAXY Tab, we’re now delighted to introduce the GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus reloaded with enhanced portability, productivity and a richer multimedia experience” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business. He added “GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus is for those who want to stay productive and in touch with work, friends and content anytime, anywhere.”

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus flaunts, well, a 7-inch PLS display with 1024x600 pixels resolution. Plane to Line Switching or PLS display is actually the evolution of In-Plane Switching or IPS panel displays we’ve seen in some of today’s tablets and smartphones. Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus got a more powerful 2-core processor ticking at 1.2GHz, of course which can offer a better performance in Android Honeycomb UI. Preserving front and rear cameras, also under its hood include Wi-Fi module, HSPA+ radio for faster mobile web-browsing, and internal storage option of 16GB and 32GB.

Measuring at just 9.96mm thin, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is 35g lighter than its predecessor which weighs around 380g.

Samsung says the GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus will be available starting in Indonesia and Austria from end-October and gradually rolled to globally including Southeast and Southwest Asia, US, Europe, CIS, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Japan and China.

If you don’t mind me telling you, Samsung actually has us covered with a selection of tablet sizes. Sammy has Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7, and if you prefer a smartphone that looks like a tablet – perhaps the GALAXY Note is the answer.
