RIM Intros BlackBerry Torch 9810, 9850, and 9860 Smartphones

Canadian phone maker, Research In Motion (RIM), announced today three new BlackBerry smartphones in the Torch line-up.

The BlackBerry Torch 9810, BlackBerry Torch 9850, and BlackBerry Torch 9860 will all carry the upcoming latest BlackBerry OS 7. RIM is expected then to release 5 new BB OS 7 phones this year including the recently announced BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930.

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 is very identical to the Torch 9800 which combines a large touch display and a slide-out keyboard. The BlackBerry Torch 9850 and Torch 9860 on the other hand are designed with an all-touch display, yet still have that BlackBerry signature buttons like the trackpad and the ones for calling functions (similar with the BB Storm). BB Torch 9850 and BB Torch 9860 don the same key hardware specs except for the network technologies the devices are supporting. BB Torch 9850 is a CDMA device while the latter is GSM.

RIM said all 5 new smartphones will begin to be available from carriers around the world starting later this month. I’m expecting though that the BlackBerry Torch 9850 won’t arrive here in the Philippines since it’s a CDMA device and most of our leading telcos here are using GSM networks. Anyway, we’ll find out more but for the meantime - you may read full press release after the break.
