Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook Price Under $1K, Release Date in November

Price does matter. That is, if we are going to compare new ultrabooks from other PC makers versus Apple’s MacBook Air (the pioneer), reading-through the prices should be on the checklist before buying.

Toshiba has announced its first ultrabook at the ongoing IFA event in Berlin, the 13.3-inch Portege Z830 Series, and despite being the slimmest and lightest machine so far, yet packed with decent specs inside, the Japan-based PC maker is apparently targeting price of basic configuration just under $1000.

Well, this may sound interesting as the Portege Z830 Series undoubtedly got a better hardware specs than MacBook Air models which are selling beyond the $1K mark on basic config. Although Toshiba didn’t make final specs official just yet, the press release and photos suggest the Portege Z830 supports up to quad-core processors (Core i3/i5/i7), integrated graphics, 128GB SSD storage, 6GB DDR3 RAM, and 8-cell 47Wh battery.

The Portege Z830 also got standard interfaces and ports including Ethernet, HDMI, VGA ports, an SD card reader, a 3.5mm audio jack, two USB 2.0 jacks, and a single USB 3.0 port offering much faster data transfer (10x of USB 2.0).

Toshiba says the Portege Z830 Series Ultrabook will be available in November 2011, so let’s just wait if the company will indeed price this machine below $1K. Just stay tuned for updates!
