MyPhone TW1 Duo vs. Samsung Punch: Dual-SIM Phones of Different Form Factors

Someone posted a query on CTB fan page asking for advice which of the MyPhone TW1 Duo and Samsung Punch is better.



I don’t think comparing two phones of different form-factors yet sharing the same main feature is absurd, so I decided to publish a short comparison of these two dual-SIM phones, basically just based on the spec sheets. Unlike the Samsung Punch, I never used or get my hands on the MyPhone TW1 Duo so I really have less to say about the entire experience of using this phone. But for the sake of this reader (or some of you too), perhaps we can provide a quick analysis which one really is better.

Okay. I’m pretty sure you’re aware these phones aren’t really among the latest in stores but could appeal very well to the masses simply because of its dual-SIM capability (good for eLoading, mind you); and of course because of its low prices – I think both of these handsets are selling well. Just recently several dual-SIM handsets have landed in the country, by now however; we’ll just have to talk about this two.

Now, back to the comparison table above, among the most notable features on top of the two phones’ denominators include the display, camera, memory, Wi-Fi support, and the form-factor. Except for the memory, it’s very obvious MyPhone TW1 Duo got a better deal – particularly the higher camera resolution and higher pixel density for the display. The Wi-Fi support is really a plus for MyPhone TW1 Duo, of course only if you’re after of it. After all, GPRS and EDGE aren’t really that appalling for mobile web – thus both may be enough for a feature phone like the Punch.

The phone’s form-factor is not really a big deal here since you can easily select the handset according to your preference, but it becomes part of your decision particularly if you see it has significant impact in the overall performance of the handset. MyPhone TW1 Duo’s full touch screen may be a winner for some over the Punch’s QWERTY, but technically having full touch screen could drain that 1000mAh power source faster. And note both of these phones are dual-SIM which keeps two radios active at a time, so I think it’s safe to say the Samsung Punch battery may last longer from last full charge.



The Samsung Punch is wider than MyPhone TW1 Duo yet still lighter, perhaps due to the slimmer dimension; however, I think it’s just too small to notice so not much of a big deal.



If I have to throw my verdict which of these two is better, it actually depends on how and what you want to use the phone for. Both are dual-SIM but I’d probably prefer a QWERTY phone over the other with full yet only of a resistive type touch screen. Of course it also has to go with something which includes a trusted and proven brand.
