Nokia C2-00 and Noka X1-01, Nokia’s Dual-SIM and Dual-Standby Phones

Nokia C2-00 and Nokia X1-01 already arrived here in the Philippines early last month, and even though few units have been spotted on grey markets, Nokia didn’t make these phones locally available just yet.

I’m expecting these two phones from Nokia to officially hit local shelves this month, probably by next week at the latest, if what was tipped off to me from a reliable source turns out to be true. But I’m confident it will. If you’re wondering why these phones caught my attention, well, it’s because both have a unique feature that we’ve never seen before among previous Nokia handsets: that is Dual SIM and Dual Standby.

Dual SIM capability on Nokia X1-01 and Nokia C2-00 handsets means that you can use not just a single SIM card on the phone but two. The interesting part is both installed SIM cards will stay active, hence the name Dual-Standby, that you can always receive notification of calls and messages on each account – rather than having to switch your SIM cards on and off.

Nokia C2-00
Aside from being Dual-SIM, Nokia C2-00 also offers a feature called Easy Swap, which will allow you to easily change one SIM card through an accessible slot in the side while keeping the other SIM card inside. In this way, you don’t need to switch the phone off, open it, and change SIMs.

Nokia X1-01
Nokia X1-01 on the other hand is music-centric. It got a massive rear speaker which can deliver up to 106 Phons (unit of perceived loudness level), come with FM radio, MP3 music player, 3.5mm AV jack, and will support up to 16GB SD storage.

Better still, these phones both offer an exceptionally long battery life. Nokia X1-01 can offer up to 43 days standby time and 13 hours talk time, or 36 hours for a solid music playing. The Nokia C2-00 offers a still-gigantic 19.2 days standby time, with 5.75 hours talk time. And most importantly, the handsets are inexpensive. In fact, indicative pricing for Nokia X1-01 is no more than Php 2,500 while C2-00 should cost no more than Php 3,500.

Again, we’re still waiting for official words from Nokia regarding the phones availability – so just stay tuned for updates. Surely, I’ll let you know.

Update 1:  June 11, 2011

Nokia already launched both Dual-SIM phones in Manila the other day and the suggested retail price is Php 1,990 for Nokia X1-01 and Php 2,990 for Nokia C2-00.
