LG Announced Wireless Charging Pad, WCP-700

Wireless charging could be the next leap in the growing popularity of smart phones and tablet devices.

HP has its own Touchstone, there’s another one from an independent mobile accessory company Powermat, and the newest entry to the wireless charger line-up is from LG called Wireless Charging Pad (WCP-700).

Basically, the Wireless Charging Pad is a portable charging system that a user plugs into the outlet, and wirelessly charging compatible mobile devices when placed on top of it. Technically, LG’s WCP-700 works with the same magnetic induction technology, in which it alleviates the need of physical connections in transferring electrical energy from a power source into the battery of mobile devices.

I’m actually thinking we’ll be seeing more and more handset manufacturers introducing similar accessories in the future. And it would be great if they come up with something more efficient, environment-friendly and of course less-expensive.

LG says the Wireless Charging Pad will retail for $69.99 and will be available comes April this year. Let’s see if we spot one here in the Philippines.
