Compro IP55 Intelligent Network Camera, A Surveillance Solution for Home and Business

Just got a word from one of the marketing folks at Compro Technology in Taiwan that one of the company’s IP camera products – the IP55, is going to sell in the Philippines anytime soon.

I haven’t seen any model of the complete IP line-up on local shelves yet, that’s why I’m thinking some of CTB readers here in the country would be interested to hearing about the IP55. Or am I just missing it? J

Anyway, the Compro IP55 Intelligent Network Camera is suitable as a network surveillance solution for home or small businesses, delivering real-time video which is accessible through the internet. With the smartConnect technology, users can access the IP cameras using a unique ID and password on a web browser or instant messenger either on a PC, iPhone, iPad, Android handsets, BlackBerry or Windows mobile devices. That means, smartConnect technology helps you get rid of any necessary router configuration and you don’t need to memorize any IP address before you can manage the camera.

Key features of IP55 include:

  • Small and smart functional design

  • 10x digital zoom

  • Dual MJPEG and MPEG-4 video streams

  • Megapixel / HD resolution

  • Two-way audio with built in microphone and speaker

  • MicroSD/SDHC support

  • Mobile connectivity: Support real-time MJPEG video mode mobile connection in iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and PDAs. And support 3GPP mobile phone monitoring.

  • Exclusive Multiple Channels Management in IE

  • Upgradeable Wifi USB module to 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN

  • Intelligent video analytic features

  • Support Active Bandwidth Management to get better video quality

  • Network Bandwidth Detection to help users better define appropriate video bit-rate for applications.

  • Hotmail and Gmail SSL webmail notification support

  • Support video recording to local (MicroSD/SDHC) and remote (NAS/NFS) storage.

  • Support live video watch in FireFox, Safari, Google Chrome web browsers. (with VLC Plug-in installed)

  • Camera profile import and export, it's easy to install multiple cameras

There’s no word when exactly Compro’s IP55 Intelligent Network Camera will arrive in the country, but surely I’ll let you know once we get more updates about the official release. Though we can expect IP55 to sell below Php 5K, a single camera is priced $79 over at AmazonAmazon. Meanwhile, may I ask anyone here using a surveillance camera at home or business locations? What security camera you’re using? Please do share it in the comment section below.

Update 1:

I was told that Compro IP camera will be available in the Philippines after March 18th, Friday - so it's not going to be a long wait.
