Leaked Acer Aspire 3951 is a MacBook Air-Like Notebook

Samsung’s Series 9 notebook tried to take over the throne of Apple’s 2010 MacBook Air models as ultra-thin and ultra-portable laptops, but it seems like Acer will attempt it this time with its Aspire 3951.

Of course only if the leaked specs sheet and images from the Taiwan-based PC maker come into reality.



The folks over at Sohoa managed to acquire unofficial details of what is said to be another contender of the recently-released 2011 MacBook Air models. Called Acer Aspire 3951, the said laptop will apparently don an aluminum casing, with 13.3-inch screen size, just 13mm thick, weighs around 1.4kg, with HDMI and USB connectivity, and offers more than 6 hours of battery life. The said machine is also claimed to use Intel’s 2nd generation Core i-Series “Sandy Bridge” processor and will carry an optional 160GB SSD Hard Drive or 250/500GB traditional HDD.

The Acer Aspire 3951 is speculated for an October release and will run Windows 7 OS. And if this machine did exist, price guesstimate is in the range of $770 and $960 – which is no doubt more affordable than the basic setup of MacBook Air. Chrome OS Demo, CNET’s First Look

Google announced last week the Cr-48 notebook, the very first laptop to run Chrome OS. Though we have already seen Chrome OS notebook in action, the folks at CNET just had their first look of the most anticipated new operating system.

Cr-48, the First Chrome OS Notebook

Chemistry, anyone? You might probably be thinking of a Chromium isotope. Well, you’re right. The Cr-48 is an isotope of the element Chromium. But for Google, it’s more than that.

Cr-48 is the first notebook or laptop to run the anticipated Chrome OS announced last year.

Google Chrome OS is still unfinished though; however, the first notebook to run the OS is set to be released mid-2011.
